quicksilver 3000 classic throttle arm for boat

Do you have a Quicksilver 3000 Classic throttle on your boat that you are having trouble disassembling? Me too! Removing the “throttle only” button isn’t intuitive. It is easy to find the notch for prying, but it seems like it’s going to break. Don’t worry…there is a SECRET to EASILY removing the button.

Removing the Quicksilver 3000 Classic throttle only button is easy if you follow these steps:

  • Find the notch on the plastic throttle only button and turn it to the top.
  • While pressing the throttle-only button, release the throttle arm and move it forward to the first position.
  • Use electrical tape (or something else sticky) to pull the button out and expose the notch.
  • Using a flat screwdriver to gently pry it out.

If you follow these steps, it should pop out with minimal pressure and won’t feel like you are going to break it trying.

After removing this button, you need an 11/16″ socket with extension to remove the shallow bolt underneath. The process continues with:

  • Removing the throttle arm and associated screws
  • Separating the arm components
  • Accessing the trim switch, which has a rubber boot
  • Opening the three-way momentary switch to clean contacts
  • Reassembling everything in reverse order
